Peterhead Methodist Church

Calling all people who attend Peterhead Methodist Church.

Without Prayer little will happen.

8 a.m. Friday 9th of January to 8a.m. Saturday 9th of January
24 hours of continuous prayer – come for 24 hours, come for ten minutes and sit quietly  or pray out loud – but come and pray.

The Leadership have agreed that for a whole year the church will focus on learning about prayer and growing in our relationship and friendship with God.

The Prayer Goals For The Next Year 2009

1. For the congregation to spend time praying for the Peterhead Methodist Church and the community.

Monday Praying for the people who are part of of our church and others who are unwell.

Tuesday Open Doorie and the wider world

Wednesday The various meetings

Thursday Minister, Youth Worker and the Leadership Team

Friday Pray for young people

Saturday The churches and ministers of the circuit

Sunday The service at Peterhead

2. Three sessions of preaching with a theme

    • The Lords Prayer — already started
    • The prayers of Jesus — January/February 2009
    • God answers prayer (Moses, Joshua, Elijah, Hezekiah, Jesus and Paul) — April/May 2009

3. 24 hours of Prayer in January 2009 Date still to be officially announced

4. A church retreat from Saturday morning to Sunday Dinner May 2009

5. Send a letter round the streets we normally send leaflets round at Christmas and Easter. We will also ask in this leaflet if people want us to pray for anything physically, spiritually and materially.

We then have an evening service in the following quarter of the year (Christmas and Easter) where we pray for these things .

We ask each Housegroup to adopt a street and prayer requests from that street will be prayed for by the Housegroup members.

There are no strings attached – we do not ask the people to come to church – only to tell us when their prayer has been answered.

Our service times will not be on the letter.  We will even enclose an envelope to send it back to us.  We do this at Christmas and Easter. The cost will be minimal as we do it in the form of a letter.

6. We contact the Police and ask them what they would like us, as a church, to pray for in the town each quarter and put this in the magazine.

7. We contact the Council and ask them what items they would value prayer for (each quarter).

8. We ask local schools if there are items they would like prayer for each quarter (Central School, Buchanhaven and The Academy)

"It is better to try than to have never dared to believe that God could do something amazing in our church."
